Not extraneous or off topic, or necessarily disrupting normal on-topic discussion, but definitely inflammatory and intended to provoke an emotional response. If you can't see the emotional responses your posts have, you're probably going to have a hard time relating to your audience or convincing anyone but hard core bandwagoners of anything at all. Didn't mean to derail our nice discussion here. I have almost no opinion of Windows 8. I think the new window design is pretty, and I have mixed feelings about Metro. Pretty superficial, eh?
